Marlys Peterson, 87, Fargo, ND formerly of Valley City, ND passed away May 20, 2023, at Sanford on Broadway in Fargo.  Her funeral service will be Thursday, May 25, 2023, at 2:00 PM in Faith Lutheran Church in Valley City.  Visitation will be the hour prior to the service at the church.  The services will be live streamed, then archived, on a link provided along with her obituary on her tribute page at www.lerudmathias.com.  An online guestbook is available there as well.

Marlys Arlene Peterson was born August 23, 1935, to Melvin A. and Mildred (Anderson) Jorgenson in Valley City, ND.  She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Valley City High School.

October 16, 1960, Marlys married Arnold K. Peterson at Nebo Lutheran Church, Valley City.  Marlys worked at the S & L Store for four years and First National Bank for nine.  Then she dedicated herself to being a stay-at-home mom to raise her family.

Family was her number one priority, she enjoyed baking, doing puzzles and spending time with family and friends.  Marlys was a crafter and a card player.  She looked forward to all condo activities with her Summit Condo Gang.  They played games of all kinds.

 

She was a Sunday School teacher, the treasurer of LCW, a member of Luther League and the church council at Nebo Lutheran Church.  At Faith Lutheran Church, she was trusted as the money counter of the offering.  Marlys read her bible daily.  She was the Peanuts Gang 4-H Club leader for 10 years as well as a Brownie leader.

Marlys is survived by her children, Deborah Rubash of Shakopee, MN, Dawn (Kenneth) Dathe of Fargo, ND and Bradley (Donna) Peterson of Williston, ND; grandchildren, Lucas (Kally Kvidera) Rubash of St. Louis Park, MN, Kaitlin (Jacob Johansen) Rubash and Nicholas Rubash of Shakopee, MN; sisters-in-law, Jean Jorgenson of Fargo, ND and Janice Jorgenson of Hastings, MN; brothers-in-law, Earl K. (Donna) Peterson of Glenwood, MN and Donald Peterson of Valley City; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arnold; son-in-law, Jay Rubash; brothers, Milford and Maurice Jorgenson; and two nieces.
