BISMARCK, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High School baseball team claimed its first ever WDA regular season title on Thursday night in Bismarck as the Blue Jays split the doubleheader against St. Mary’s.

GAME ONE: ST. MARY’S 2, JAMESTOWN 0

The Blue Jays outhit St. Mary’s five to three, but two defensive errors helped the Saints earn a game one victory. Thomas Newman led Jamestown at the plate, going 2-for-2. Brooks Roaldson, Tyson Jorissen, and Mason Lunzman all had hits in the opener. Newman was handed the loss on the hill, going all six innings, allowing three hits and striking out 11. Only one of the two runs was earned to Newman. Matt Porter picked up the win for St. Mary’s, striking out six over four innings.

GAME TWO: JAMESTOWN 11, ST. MARY’S 1 (SIX INNINGS)

Jamestown and St. Mary’s entered the fifth inning tied at one, but the Blue Jays poured in 10 runs over the next two innings to clinch a share of the WDA regular season title. Payton Hochhalter led Jamestown at the plate, driving in three runs and scoring three times. Starting pitcher Carson Orr helped his own cause at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Jackson Walters drove in two runs and tripled while also scoring twice. Mason Lunzman and Jorissen each had three hits as Jamestown tallied 15 hits as a team in game two. Orr picked up the win, going all six innings, striking out six and allowing five hits.

Jamestown (15-3, 15-3) will host the WDA tournament staring on Thursday.
