VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City will be getting a new garbage collection truck for residential use.

City Administrator Gwen Crawford said the new garbage containers will be delivered to city residents starting May 22nd.

She said there will be changes for Valley City residential garbage pickup days starting June 5th.

Crawford said there will be no additional fee or rate hike with this new garbage collection system.

Valley City Administrator Gwen Crawford said the overall savings for the city will be beneficial. She said several North Dakota cities in the area already have an automatic garbage truck.

The city appropriated $180 thousand for the special garbage truck in the 2022 budget and then appropriated $200 thousand in fiscal year 2023. Another $187 thousand for receptacles was also appropriated in the city budget for this system.
