The Hi-Liners squared off with Mandan in a 3-2 line-up dual on Friday which finished up after a lightning delay followed by a rain delay.

It was smooth sailing for the Hi-Liners in singles action as Abby Martineck defeated Noelle DeRosier, Kailee Nielson defeated Kenna Meschke and Georgia Zaun defeated Ellie Thomsen in straight sets. Coach Nielson said that each of his singles players embraced their unique playing styles to pick up the sweep.

In the doubles matchups Breck Sufficool and Abby Redfearn grinded out a couple of 7-5 set wins to take the first doubles match, while Alyssa Thomsen and Skye Nielson were down 3-0 in the first set before coming back to win in the tiebreaker, and then staved off a late Mandan rally in set two to take another tiebreaker win.

This upcoming slate of matches will be the true test for the Hi-Liners this season as they’ll play three out of the top 5 teams in the EDC. Fargo Davies is at home on Monday at 3pm, Red River is in Grand Forks on Tuesday at 4:30pm, and West Fargo Sheyenne is away on Friday at 4pm.
