VALLEY CITY, ND (NewsDakota.com) Grand Forks Central dealt Hi-Liner tennis it’s first loss this season in a 5-4 match.
Kailee Nelson, Georgia Zaun, and Skye Nelson were winners at three, four, and six singles, respectively. Breck Sufficool and Abby Martineck teamed for the lone doubles win in a tiebreak.
The match was tight, with both Sufficool and Martineck dropping second-set losses 7-5 in their singles matches, and the team of Nielson and Alyssa Thomsen dropping their doubles match in a tiebreak.
“Central did a great job in doubles of being in the correct spot and then attacking using efficient movements,” said Hi-Liner head coach Matt Nielson. “If we are going to compete against Red River, Sheyenne, and Davies in doubles in the following week, we need to also do this and I believe we can get there.”
The Hi-Liners are scheduled to host Wahpeton on Thursday.
