JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The St. John’s Academy (SJA) Archery Club (Middle School and Elementary) participated in the NASP Western National Tournament in Sandy, Utah on April 28th and 29th. Both Bullseye and 3D rounds were shot at the Western National Tournament.

The Academy’s Archery Club had impressive individual and team performances in Utah. In the Elementary Division, the SJA’s Team finished 7th nationally. In the Individual Elementary 3D Division, 4th grader, McKenna Lipetzky finished 4th overall and Leah Mann finished 6th out of 128 participants. These performances qualified the SJA Elementary Bullseye Team, Lipetzky and Mann for the Open Championships scheduled to take place in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on June 8th-10th.

The Middle School 3D Team placed 5th out of 28 teams qualifying the team for Open Championships and the Bullseye team placed 15th out of 27 teams.

The Academy’s Archery Club had a great showing overall in Utah as both the team and individuals at the elementary and middle school level had several personal bests.

Another highlight included 6th grader, Theo Strukel, who received the 2023 NASP Courage Award. The Courage Award is an individual award given to a student that continues to lead, inspire, and provide hope to others.

Team National Placings:
• Middle School 3D – 5th out of 28 participants.
• Middle School Bullseye – 15th out of 27 participants.
• Elementary Bullseye – 7th out of 18 participants.
3D Placings:
• 4th Place Elementary Girls, McKenna Lipetzky, (4th out of 128 participants)
• 5th Place Elementary Girls, Leah Mann, (6th out of 128 participants)

Principal Jeff Trumbauer said, “The individual and team performances were incredibly impressive. We are very proud of the accomplishments of these students and are appreciative of the efforts of the coaches, parents, and those who supported the trip to Nationals.”
