JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The top two teams in the West Region squared off on Tuesday night at Jack Brown Stadium in the first home games of the year for the Blue Jays. Both Jamestown and Bismarck Legacy grabbed a win to keep pace with one another in the WDA standings.

GAME ONE: JAMESTOWN 7, LEGACY 2

An error in the second inning helped Jamestown pile on three runs to pick up a win in the opening game of the doubleheader. Mason Lunzman dazzled on the hill, tossing six innings, striking out four batters, and allowing five hits. The run Lunzman surrendered was unearned. At the plate, six different Blue Jays had an RBI, and Lunzman picked up two hits while scoring twice. Jackson Walters, Brooks Roaldson, Thomas Newman, and Max Fronk all had one hit.

GAME TWO: LEGACY 3, JAMESTOWN 1 (8 INNINGS)

Two defensive errors, including one in the eighth, led the Sabres to a win in extra innings in game two of the doubleheader. Legacy scored in the top of the first off of Blue Jay starter Payton Hochhalter, and the game stayed 1-0 until the fourth inning. Hochhalter doubled to start the fourth and his courtesy runner Adam Sortland eventually scored on a Carson Orr sacrifice fly.

The game remained tied at 1 into extra innings despite the Blue Jays having a chance to walk it off in the bottom of the seventh. Wyatt Kraft of Legacy singled with the bases loaded, driving in what ended up being the game-winning runs.

The Blue Jays (8-2, 8-2) head to Watford City Friday for a doubleheader against the Wolves.
