BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The North Dakota legislature has ended its session. Lawmakers concluded their work early Sunday morning by approving a record budget of $19.6 billion.

The legislature met for 75 days, five days less than the maximum 80 days allowed. Among the final bills okayed in the session covered income and property tax reduction legislation.

“North Dakota can now claim the lowest income tax rates in the nation among states that have individual income tax, helping us to recruit and retain workers to address our workforce challenges, we’re grateful to our legislative partners whose thoughtful work allows North Dakotans to save more than half a billion dollars over the next two years and moves us further down the path toward becoming a zero-income tax state,” said Gov. Doug Burgum.

Burgum had signed 538 bills through Saturday, with 45 bills awaiting action. He has 15 business days, until May 19, to act on the remaining bills.
