JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown picked up a pair of key GPAC victories on Friday afternoon against rival Dakota Wesleyan.

GAME ONE: JAMESTOWN 4, DAKOTA WESLEYAN 2

The Jimmies trailed 2-0 entering the bottom of the fourth inning before a Julian Sansores two-run home run tied the game at two. The Jimmies would take the lead for good in the fifth after Jordan Singleton drove home Xander Orejudos with an RBI single. Singleton would score on the next at-bat as Hayden Brown doubled off the left field wall, giving UJ a 4-2 advantage.

Luke Zimmer grabbed the win on the hill in game one, going six innings and striking out three DWU batters. Zimmer improves to 8-1 on the year, lowering his ERA to below four. Brown got the save in relief, his sixth of the season.

GAME TWO: JAMESTOWN 22, DAKOTA WESLEYAN 5

It was an offensive barrage in game two for the Jimmies as Jamestown scored 15 runs in the first three innings of play. Kendall Yackley had a home run and Brown recorded two two-run homers as the Jamestown offense powered past DWU. UJ collected 25 hits as a team and the 22 runs for the Jimmies are the most runs scored in a game since UJ scored 23 against Dakota State in 2018.

UJ moves to 25-17, and 14-10 in the GPAC. The Jimmies wrap up the regular season Saturday with a doubleheader against Dakota Wesleyan starting at 1 PM.
