MANDAN, N.D. (VCHS) – On April 16th, the Hi-Liner Speech Team headed to Mandan to compete at the ND Roughrider District’s national qualifying tournament. The tournament, hosted at the Baymont Inn and Suites, ran from April 16th-April 18th.
The Hi-Liners finished with four speakers heading to Nationals. Ayden McPartland, a Junior at VCHS, will compete in the supplemental events of Prose and Poetry.
Leah Hochhalter, a Sophomore, qualified in Dramatic Interpretation. She will also compete in the supplemental events of Prose and Poetry.
Carter Hass, a Freshman, qualified in Congressional Debate in November and will compete in the supplemental events of Expository and Impromptu.
Abby Wilmes, a Freshman, was nominated for and selected for Team ND’s World Schools Debate team. She will also compete in the supplemental events of Expository and Impromptu.
These four Hi-Liners, along with Coach Abby Ingstad, will represent Valley City and North Dakota at the National Speech and Debate Association National Tournament in Phoenix, AZ this June.
