BISMARCK, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High School softball team picked up a pair of wins in the WDA on Thursday night while girl’s tennis fell to Bismarck Century.
SOFTBALL: JAMESTOWN 10, CENTURY 6 | JAMESTOWN 17, CENTURY 2 (5 inn.)
A six run sixth inning in game one helped the Blue Jays come from behind in Bismarck as part of a doubleheader sweep against Century. All six runs scored in the sixth came with two outs. With Jamestown trailing 5-3, Katie Falk doubled to center field to tie the game at 5. Torrie Mack drove in Falk with a double to left and the train kept rolling for the Blue Jays in order to take game one, 10-6. Falk earned the win in game one, going all seven innings, striking out seven and allowing six earned runs.
In game two, Jamestown pounced on Century starter Ashlyn Schumacher for nine runs in the first inning, which led to a dominant 17-2 victory. Falk got the win inside the circle in game two, tossing five innings and striking out 13 Century batters. The Blue Jays racked up 18 hits in the win, with Ella Falk driving in five runs. The Blue Jays, 5-3 overall, head to Dickinson this weekend for three games against Central Cass, Dickinson, and Beulah.
GIRL’S TENNIS: JAYS FALL 9-0 AGAINST CENTURY
The Blue Jay girl’s tennis team suffered a 9-0 defeat against Bismarck Century on the Mandan courts Thursday night. Jamestown falls to 0-3 overall and in the WDA this season, and will host Bismarck High on Thursday, May 4th.
