VALLEY CITY, ND  (NewsDakota.com)  Three state qualifiers in a long-distance event sparked the Hi-Liner track and field teams at Central Cass Tuesday.

Reagan Berg, Greta Goven, and Brynn Lueck took the top three spots on the podium in the 800-meter run, all qualifying for the state meet in May.  Berg posted a 2:19.05, Goven ran 2:21.61, and Lueck 2:24.97.

All three then ran legs on the second-place 1600-meter relay, teaming with Sydnee Ingstad.

The day was full of multiple placewinners, led by four trips to the awards ceremony for Dacota Potratz, who finished fifth in the 100 hurdles, sixth in the 300 hurdles, fifth in high jump, and running a leg on the 1600-meter relay team with Tesa Olson, Carly Goven, and Tricia Pfennig.

Kadie Kocka turned in a pair of runner-up finishes in the field, finishing second in the pole vault and the long jump.  Jovi Borg was third in discus, fourth in triple jump, and sixth in pole vault.  Karina Olson was third in long jump, and fifth in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dash.

Madison Wendel was second in the 100-meter hurdles and third in the pole vault.  Ingstad added a third in the 300-meter hurdles.  Pfennig added a seventh in the 1600-meter run and Olson placed on a second relay, running a leg of the seventh-place 400-relay team with Brenna Storley, Alyssa Wilmes, and Abby Shanenko.

Laityn Didier’s eighth-place finish in the pole vault netted the Hi-Liners half the placewinners in that event.

On the boys side, Wyatt Friestad and Parker Jacobson led the way with three places each.  Friestad was second in the 200-meter dash and fifth in the 100-meter dash. Jacobson was third in the 100 and fourth in the 200, and both ran legs on the fourth-place 400-meter relay with Treylan Cope and Carter Borg.

Corben Golovanoff second in the 800-meter run and sixth in the 1600-meter run.  Dylan Hunt was fifth in shot put and seventh in discus, Arie Bratrud was second in shotput, Landon Storley was seventh in the 400-meter dash.  Isaac Norby, Derek Shape, Jake Anderson, and Hayden Botz were seventh in the 400-meter relay.

The Hi-Liners will compete at Fargo Shanley at an EDC meet Thursday.
