BISMARCK, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown’s baseball and girls soccer teams returned to West Region play on Tuesday night in Bismarck and Dickinson.

BASEBALL: GAME ONE: JAMESTOWN 8, DICKINSON 4 | GAME TWO: DHS 4, JHS 1

The Blue Jays capitalized on four Dickinson errors to take the doubleheader opener in Dickinson. Mason Lunzman tossed all seven innings, giving up just one hit and striking out seven. At the dish, Reagan Sortland drove in two runs and Max Fronk also had an RBI. Sortland, Payton Hochhalter, and Brooks Roaldson all scored two runs in the first game.

In game two, a three run fourth inning proved to be the difference as Dickinson handed Jamestown its first loss of the 2023 season. Hochhalter gave up all four runs on the hill, but only one of the runs was earned. The Jays scored their lone run of game two in the sixth inning as Sortland, Roaldson, Jackson Walters, and Carson Orr all had one hit. Jamestown, now 7-1 overall and in the WDA, hosts Legacy on Tuesday, May 2nd.

GIRLS SOCCER: JAMESTOWN 2, LEGACY 2

A first half goal from Bre Oettle led Jamestown into the half with a 1-0 advantage. Reese Christ scored in the 64th minute off an assist from Brenna Hatch to make it 2-0 Blue Jays. Legacy responded, scoring both of their goals in the next 14 minutes to earn a point with a draw against Jamestown. Olivia Sorlie made 10 saves in goal, compared to three saves for Legacy goalkeeper Ava Hanzal. The Jays, 1-1-2 overall and 1-1-1 in the WDA, host St. Mary’s for a non-counter on Friday night.
