HASTINGS, Neb. (jimmiepride.com)– The Jimmie softball team completed its Nebraska road trip with a split Saturday afternoon against Hastings College. UJ lost 11-3 in six innings in game one, then took a 16-9 victory in game two.

Game 1:
Angie Chin‘s third inning homer was the Jimmies’ only run as UJ fell behind 8-1 after four innings. Jamestown cut into the Broncos’ lead in the fifth, with Gentrey Turin and Chin singling to start the inning. Each runner moved up a base on a groundout, then Samarah Martinez singled to left, scoring Turin and Chin to make it 8-3.

Hastings added another run in the fifth and finished the game in the bottom of the sixth with a two-run home run that made the score 11-3.

The Jimmies had nine hits in the game, with Chin going 2-for-2. Ally Battistoni doubled for UJ’s only other extra-base hit.

Game 2:
Jamestown scored in six of seven innings and finished with 21 hits to salvage the split.

Maddie SpaethMackenzie LefebvreAlly Battistoni, and Camryn Schwab all homered for the Jimmies, who trailed 5-4 after one inning.

Battistoni’s three-run shot came in the first inning, and Spaeth’s solo homer in the second tied the game at 5-5. The Broncos scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth to get within 8-7, but Lefebvre hit a two-run blast in the fifth to put UJ ahead by three runs. Schwab went deep in the seventh as part of a five-run inning for the Jimmies.

Battistoni and Samarah Martinez both were 4-for-6 at the plate. Spaeth had five RBI as part of a 3-for-5 game. Lefebvre finished with three RBI and joined Trinity Gregg and Gracie Fisher with two hits each. Hailey Schaefer (5-2) came on in relief in the bottom of the first and pitched the final 6 1/3 innings, striking out seven while giving up four runs on 11 hits.

Jamestown (21-17 overall, 8-8 GPAC) will host Midland (Neb.) University on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
