VALLEY CITY, ND  (NewsDakota.com)  The Hi-Liner track and field teams competed in a four-team quadrangular in Kindred Tuesday.

The Hi-Liner girls team won the event, scoring 72.83 points, and showing off the strength of their long-distance running program.

Valley City went first through sixth in the 800-meter run, with Reagan Berg winning the event.  Greta Goven was second, Brynn Lueck finished third, Cadence Fetsch fourth, Carly Goven fifth and Tricia Pfenning sixth.

Carly Goven tacked on with a fourth in the 1600-meter run.  Valley City then went third (Berg, Fetsch, Lueck, Greta Goven) and fourth (Carly Goven, Pfenning, Sydnee Ingstad, Katie Jones) in the 1600-meter relay, and first (Lueck, Fetsch, Berg, Greta Goven) in the 3200-meter relay.

In other track events, Karina Olson finished first in the 200-meter dash and second in the 100-meter dash.  Chesney Thomsen was third in the 200, Jones was third in the 400, Madison Wendel was third in the 100-meter hurdles and Ingstad was fourth in the 300 hurdles.

Valley City finished second (Lyni Bakalar, Thomsen, Hadley Thoreson, Laityn Didier) and fourth (Ady Bakalar, Kinley Larson, Marisa Hoffarth, Gabriella Wadeson) in the 400-meter relay.

In field events, the Hi-Liners picked up two titles.  Jovi Borg finished first in javelin and second in discus.  Dacota Potratz was first in the high jump, and Tyana Judd was second in the shotput.

On the boys side, Parker Jacobson had a standout day, finishing second in the 200, fourth in the 100, and running a leg of the second place 400-meter relay team (Aiden Jacobson, Waytt Friestad, Treylan Cope) and a leg of the third-place 800 relay team (Friestad, Derek Shape, Cope).

Corban Golovanoff was third in the 800 and fourth in the 1600.  Shape added a fourth in the 200 to round out the track events.  In field events, Aiden Jacobson was second in the high jump, and Scot Rohde was third in the discus and javelin.

The track and field teams are projected to be active again Friday, April 28th, at Fargo Shanley.
