ABERDEEN, S.D. (jimmiepride.com)– The Jimmie softball team split a doubleheader against Briar Cliff (Iowa) University Monday afternoon. BCU took game one by a score of 3-2 before Jamestown won 4-2 in game two.

Game 1:
Mackenzie Lefebvre‘s two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth gave the Jimmies a 2-1 lead, but the Chargers scored twice in the top of the sixth to retake the lead.

A sacrifice bunt by Reece Floyd moved Ally Battistoni to third and Gentrey Turin to second, and UJ had two runners in scoring position with only one out. BCU was able to retire the final two Jamestown hitters to end the threat.

Stat Leaders:
Battistoni was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, including a double.
Lefebvre recorded both Jimmie RBIs.
Sunny Halsey struck out seven in seven innings despite taking the loss.

Game 2:
Reece Floyd had the Jimmies’ lone hit in the bottom of the third, a two-run single that gave Jamestown a 4-1 lead. UJ’s two earlier runs in the frame came with the help of four walks and a sacrifice fly.

Samarah MartinezMaddie Spaeth, and Mackenzie Lefebvre all walked to start the third. One out later, Megan Neiles drew another base on balls, bringing home Martinez. Ally Battistoni‘s fly ball to right field was deep enough to allow Spaeth to score. Floyd then delivered a two-out single, scoring Neiles and pinch-runner Sidnie Aasen.

BCU made it a 4-2 game with a run in the sixth but went down in order in the seventh to end the game.

Stat Leaders:
