VALLEY CITY, ND (NewsDakota.com)  The Hi-Liner boys golf team will take their best shots at a famous golf course.

Virtually.

In an effort for golf teams to at least try to play, the Hi-Liners will join their Eastern Dakota Conference (EDC) counterparts at Suite Shots in Fargo Tuesday, competing in a simulated EDC meet.

The course chosen for today’s competition is Torrey Pines, a course along the Pacific Ocean in San Diego, CA.

According to Nate Olson, Grand Forks Red River boys golf coach, the meet will organize the same as a regular meet in the EDC, with each teams’ number-one golfers grouped together, the number-twos grouped together and so on.

Putting will be interesting.  There will be certain distances where two putts will be automatically added to a golfer’s score, and shorter distances that will be in a “gimme circle”, where one putt will be added.

Boys golf is a spring sport in North Dakota.  The season has absorbed the same impact as other outdoor seasons this spring.
