MINOT, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Grady Shipman and Kael Kovar combine for a no-hit shutout over the Royals of South Prairie/Max on Monday morning at Corbitt Field and cruise to a 17-0 victory, winning by 10-run rule in five innings. Carrington is 1-0, SPM drops to 0-3.

The two pitchers for Carrington struck out 11 batters and allowed three walks. The Royals would have two runners on in the fifth after two walks from Kovar, but that would be the furthest any base runner for SP/M would advance in the shortened five inning game. The SP/M Royals also struggled on defense, committing five errors. The Cardinals had 14 hits total, batters one through nine had at least one hit. Shipman had three hits, a single and two doubles, knocked in two and scored four times and also picked up the victory on the mound.

Next up for Carrington will be Tuesday in New Rockford for a Region 3 game, KDAK 1600/100.1 and newsdakota.com will have the game starting about 4:30pm.
