CARRINGTON, N.D. (From Coach Kristen Hewitt) The Carrington High School Speech Team had an excellent showing at the Region 5 speech competition this past Saturday.  The team won the Region 5 championship, and all ten members will advance to the state competition in Mandan. The team raked in seven first place finishes, five second place finishes, one third place finishes, and two fourth place finishes. Students who will compete at state include Kaley Kostelnik, first in poetry and second in serious prose; Sage Patzer, second in poetry; Sarah Hallwachs, first in speech to inform and first in radio; Briley Carr, second in humorous and fourth in EPR; Alexis Harris, second in storytelling and fourth in dramatic; Ryder Schlafman-Hieb, first in speech to entertain; Eric Hallwachs, first in storytelling and first in humorous duo; Joie Helseth, first in humorous and second in humorous duo; Maara Kutz, second in humorous duo; and Emery Patzer, first in humorous duo and third in EPR.

State Speech will be in Mandan on Saturday, April 29th.
