tennis-meeting

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Valley City Park Board voted 4-1 on a plan to remove tennis courts from City Park and install pickle ball courts on February 1st.

Since then, members of the Valley City Tennis Association and Valley City Park board member Susan Kringlie are concerned that the city would lose City Park tennis courts heavily used for junior tennis, VCHS, VCTA, and by community members.

High School Coach Matt Nielson said we need those extra courts for our teams.

Erik Kringlie, president of the Valley City Tennis Association said this community needs a combined facility for tennis and pickle ball with both programs growing in numbers.

He said a meeting with the Valley City Park board, VCTA, and pickle ball members is set for April 18th to discuss this issue.

Kringlie said we lost four college courts to the Wellness Center, and if we lose City Park, that will affect our programming. The City Park courts are the only lighted courts in the community as well for late night tournaments.

About 50 people attended the Valley City Tennis Association meeting on Wednesday, April 12th to express their concerns over the possible lose of tennis courts in City Park.
