BISMARCK, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High School baseball team has high expectations coming into the 2023 season. The Jays started off on the right foot Tuesday in Bismarck, taking down the Demons 10-3 and 10-0 to begin the year.

Jamestown fell behind early in game one, trailing 3-1 going into the bottom of the fifth. The Jays rallied late, scoring seven runs in the sixth to take game one decisively. That momentum rolled over into game two as Jamestown led 2-0 after one inning in the second game. Another seven run inning, this time in the fifth inning, helped the Jays pick up a run rule victory and improve to 2-0. The Blue Jays wracked up 20 hits in the two games of the year.

Thomas Newman and Jackson Walters dominated on the hill during game two, giving up just one hit over five innings of work. Offensively, Brooks Roaldson had three RBIs in game one and Mason Lunzman went 3-for-3 in game two with an RBI and a triple.

Reagan Sortland homered and drove in two runs as well during game two and Tyson Jorrison also had two RBIs. Walters and Newman each drove in a run at the plate in game two while also shutting out Bismarck High.

Jamestown travels back to Bismarck on Thursday to face Century in another WDA doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 PM.
