DICKINSON, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High School softball team opened up its season with non-counter action on the road at Dickinson. The Blue Jays fell by a run in both games of the doubleheader against the Midgets.
Two runs in the first inning helped Dickinson jump out to an early lead in game one. Jamestown would eventually tie the game at three in the fifth inning, but a sac fly scored Ava Jahner to help Dickinson escape game one with a 4-3 victory.
The offense was humming from the start in game two for Dickinson as they scored 13 runs in the first two innings. The Blue Jays hit back, scoring 12 runs from the second through fourth innings, but couldn’t scratch across that elusive 13th run as Dickinson held on to defeat Jamestown 13-12 in game two.
Jamestown’s doubleheader against Turtle Mountain scheduled for April 11th has been postponed. The Jays are scheduled to return to play on Tuesday, April 18th against Bismarck High.
