GRAND FORKS, N.D. (NWS) – The National Weather Service (NWS) office in Grand Forks said a powerful late-season winter storm will impact the area Tuesday, April 4th and Wednesday, April 5th. A Winter Storm Watch goes into effect Tuesday morning and continues through Wednesday night.

The National Weather Service said, 6 to 12 inches of snow is expected from this system, some areas could see more than 12 inches of snow. Some areas could receive 18 inches of snow or more from this weather system.

The storm is forecast to last up to 18 hours as this Colorado low moves into the region on Tuesday, April 4th. Strong gusty wind, and blowing and drifting snow will make travel difficult or impossible during this winter storm. If you have travel plans you may need to reschedule as roads are expected to be blocked or closed during this storm.
