BISMARCK, N.D. (PPR) – The North Dakota Senate Finance and Tax Committee has combined income tax relief and property tax relief into one bill. Senate Majority Leader David Hogue says taken together, the bill represents $600 million in tax relief.
He says it isn’t as robust as first proposed – the original income tax bill would have created a lower “flat tax” rate, and the property tax bill would have reduced the required property tax levied for schools to 30 mills – from the current 60 mills.
Hogue says the full Senate will vote on it early next week – setting up a House-Senate conference committee to work out a final package.
