From Jimmie Athletics
Derek Correa and Oguzhan Oguz of the Jimmie men’s volleyball team have been recognized as this week’s GPAC Setter and Attacker of the Week, respectively.
Correa, a senior from Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, averaged 10.88 assists per set as Jamestown won its third straight GPAC regular-season championship. He had 54 assists in a five-set win over Ottawa (Kan.), then followed up with 33 assists and five aces in a sweep of Morningside. Correa needs just 34 more assists to break his own single-season record.
Oguz, a freshman, from Bursa, Turkey, helped the Jimmies to a third straight regular-season GPAC championship with a pair of wins last week. He hit .354 with 35 kills, an average of 4.38 kills per set and now has 277 kills on the season, second-most in program history, and is already sixth on the Jimmies’ all-time kills list.
