FARGO, N.D. (NDHP) A semi driver from Ontario, Canada has been arrested with negligent homicide following a semi collision on Interstate-94 west of Mapleton on Wednesday, March 15th.
North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP) Captain Bryan Niewind said, the driver of one semi’ 52-year-old Yuhai Zhu was not hurt in the crash. He had slowed or stopped on the interstate while pulling a trailer with anti-freeze used to de-ice airplanes. Zhu’s rig was struck from behind by another semi hauling heating and air conditioning equipment.
The second semi caught fire and between 65-hundred and 67-hundred gallons of liquid de-icer leaked from the punctured trailer.
The driver of the other semi, a 72-year-old Randall Buxton of New Westminster, British Columbia died at the scene. More details are attached below.
