FARGO, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High School boy’s basketball team saw its season come to a close on Friday afternoon at the FargoDome in a 69-66 loss to Minot High.

Jamestown brought great fight and effort from start to finish on Friday as the Jays led 38-31 going into the half. It was a much better shooting day in the first half as Jamestown shot 50% from the floor and 56% from long range in the opening half.

Minot found a late groove in the second half and hit some late free throws to eventually overcome the Jays in a great overall game. Jamestown held potential Mr. Basketball Darik Dissette to five points, but Morgan Nygaard and Aric Winczewski combined for 41 points. The Jays were led in scoring by Payton Hochhlater who poured in 17 points and finished just one rebound shy of another double-double.

Noah Meissner ended the night with 16 points, including 10 in the first half. Dalton Lamp was in double figures with 14 points and Ryan Larson chipped in 11.

Jamestown ends the year at 14-13 overall with a state tournament berth. The Jays will graduate three seniors in Hochhalter, Caydann Cox, and Mason Lunzman.
