Minot, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—The Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier (EKM) Rebels shot 51% from the field (23-45) and out rebounded Langdon Area-Edmore-Munich (LAEM) 33-18, resulting in a 63-37 victory in the fifth place game at the 2023 state tournament. The Rebels and Cardinals opened the season against one another in Edgeley on December 2nd with a much closer result, a 56-50 victory for the Rebels.

Kiara Jangula finished her high school career with a game high 21 points (8-13 shooting) and added 6 rebounds to pace the Rebels offense. Mataeya Mathern added 18 points and a game high 11 rebounds. Norah Entzi added 7 points and 6 rebounds in  her final high school game. The Rebels started to pull away late in the first half with a 29-18 lead. A big third quarter put the game out of reach with the Rebels outscoring the Cardinals 17-6, and a 46-24 advantage heading into the final quarter.

LAEM was paced by Jaya Henderson with 16 points and game high 3 assists. Cora Badding added 7 points and 6 rebounds. LAEM wrapped up their season with a 20-7 record and EKM finished with a 21-6 mark.
