MINOT, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The number one seed in the State Tourney and number one team in the state never trailed as they cruise to a 23 point victory over Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier in the quarterfinals of the State Class B Girls basketball tourney at the Minot State University Dome on Thursday night, 66-43. Thompson improves to 23-2 overall, EKM drops to 19-5 overall.

Thompson set the tone early by jumping out to an early 5-0 lead, EKM would come back and tie the game at five, but Thompson retook the lead and would lead the rest of the game. Freshman Addison Sage provided a spark off the bench for the Tommies, she dropped in 20 points, including four 3-pointers. The EKM Rebels were led by Junior Mataeya Mathern with 15 points, eight rebounds, four assist and five steals. The Tommies shot 52% from the field and made seven 3-pointers. The Rebels shot just 38% from the field with four treys.

Next up for EKM will be on Friday at 245pm against the Kenmare/Bowbells Honkers in the consolation round. Q101 and newsdakota.com will have the game starting about 240pm.
