VALLEY CITY, ND  (NewsDakota.com)  Autumn Perry, a former Valley City State University Viking softball player, has been hired as head coach of the Valley City Hi-Liner softball team.

Perry was an all-North Star Athletic Association player in 2021 as a utility player for Valley City State, averaging .333 at the plate, used mostly in a designated player role.  She drove in 25 runs with five doubles and three home runs during the season.

During her career at Valley City State, Perry played outfield and third base, along the designated player role.   She was a breakout player as a freshman, batting .472 in 36 at-bats in the 2018 season.

Perry replaces Mark Mattson, who resigned shortly after accepting the job a few weeks ago, citing health reasons.

The Hi-Liners begin their season March 20th
