SIOUX CITY, IA. (NewsDaktoa.com) – Senior Hannah DeMars of the University of Jamestown women’s basketball has been named the 2022-23 Great Plains Athletic Conference women’s basketball player of the year.
Head Coach Thad Sankey was named the Co-Coach of the Year.
DeMars (Grand Rapids, MN) averaged just under a double-double this season. She scored 17.7 points per game along with 9.9 rebounds per contest. DeMars shot 45% from the field and 39% from three point range during the regular season. She also ranks eighth nationally with 232 defensive rebounds to go along with 514 total points, which is 38th nationally.
Kia Tower joined DeMars on the first team All-GPAC list. Tower, a senior out of Bigfork, Minnesota, was named to the first team for the first time in her career. Tower scored 13.6 points per game and dished out just under three assists.
Junior Audrey Rodakowski and sophomore Kate Busek were named to the honorable mention list for the GPAC. Head Coach Thad Sankey was the co-coach of the year alongside Bill Harmsen of Dordt.
The #23 Jimmies (21-8, 16-6) will see where they are headed in the national tournament on Thursday.
