JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – For the third consecutive season, the Jamestown gymnastics team saw one of its own recognized as the North Dakota Senior Athlete of the Year. This time, it was Emma Hillerud.
Hillerud joins Haley Nelson and Rachel Schiele as the last three Blue Jays to bring home the award in three straight years. Hillerud finished eighth in the all-around (36.233) on Saturday afternoon at Jerry Meyer Arena.
A day after the Blue Jays placed third as a team in the team championships, Jamestown placed two individuals in the top-1o to round out the season. Julia Skari was fifth in the all-around on Saturday (36.683) after tying for fifth on Friday.
Skari’s best performance in the individual championships took place on the vault where the sophomore scored a 9.633. She also took fourth on the bars with a 9.367. Hillerud took eighth on the beam (9.100) and ninth on the bars (9.067).
Blair Arbuckle tied for tenth with her floor routine (9.450) and tied for eleventh (8.900) on the uneven bars. Allysah Larson had top-16 finishes on the beam (8.733) and floor (9.300).
