JAMESTOWN, ND (NewsDakota.com) – In an ideal world without a potential blizzard blowing through much of the south east and south central portion of the state the Region 3 Girls Basketball Tournament would be gearing up to have their Championship game on Thursday. However, due to weather, the Tournament schedule had to be pushed back a day with quarterfinals taking up 2 days instead of one and weather postponing Wednesday’s semifinals to Thursday. That forces the championship to be played on Friday.

The District 5 Boys Basketball Tournament, which is also played at the Jamestown Civic Center, was supposed to begin on Friday but will now likely start on Saturday.

The quarterfinal matchups will start at 4:30 pm with LaMoure-LM vs Barnes County North. The next game will start 20 minutes after the end of game one with Carrington vs Oakes. The night will wrap up with Edgeley/Kulm/Montpellier vs Griggs-Midkota.

This entire schedule is currently tentative and could change if weather conditions worsen tomorrow which would possibly force the tournament back even farther. Currently, according ndhsaa.com, the deadline for District Tournaments is February 28th.

All District 5 and Region 3 Tournament games can be heard on 1220/100.3 KDDR, 98.3 Thunder Country, and on NewsDakota.com.
