DICKINSON, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – For the third consecutive season, the Blue Jay gymnastics teams has the West Region Senior Athlete of the Year. Emma Hillerud of Jamestown was named the WDA Senior Athlete of the Year as the Blue Jays took third at the WDA Championships.
Hillerud’s best performance came during the floor exercise as the senior scored a 9.200 to claim 14th. Teammate Julia Skari put on another total performance, tying for second in the all-around with a score of 37.075. Skari took first on vault (9.500) and fifth in the other three events. The sophomore tied Rylee Olson of Dickinson for second while Elizabeth Karsky (37.900) won the all-around title.
Senior Blaire Arbuckle for Jamestown had top-16 finishes on vault (11th) and the uneven bars (12th). Allysah Larson finished 13th in the floor exercise (9.275), and Sutton Van Gilder was 12th on the beam (8.600).

The state tournament begins on Friday in Jamestown with the team tournament starting at 5:00 PM before the individual tournament on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
