VALLEY CITY, ND (NewsDakota.com) Hi-Liner gymnast Karina Olson shined in her home gym at the Eastern Dakota Conference Championships Friday in Valley City.
Olson won three events, was runner-up in the fourth, and dominated the field with a 1.6-point margin to take all-around honors at the EDC meet at Twister Gymnasium at the Valley City Youth Sports Complex.
In the floor exercise, Olson’s signature event, she tallied a 9.825. She registered a 9.5 on the bars and a 9.15 on the vault, winning all three events. She finished second to Taryn Swanson of Grand Forks on the balance beam by .25 of a point.
Olson surpassed Swanson for the all-around honors with a 38.075 score.
The effort led the Hi-Liners to a third-place finish as a team. Jade Williams was seventh all-around, finishing third on the balance beam, sixth on the bars, and ninth on the floor. Jessica Ranisate was fifth on the vault.
Olson was named to the All-EDC team.
