VALLEY CITY, ND (NewsDakota.com) The Hi-Liner girls win at Fargo North could prove very handy as the season comes to an end.
Valley City defeated West Fargo Horace Friday night 58-52 to claim their sixth Eastern Dakota Conference (EDC) win of the season, pulling into a tie with North and Devils Lake for the eighth-place position, the final place to earn a home EDC play-in game.
Should the season end in a three-way tie, the Hi-Liners would have the tiebreaker advantage. Their win at North was worth two EDC points, pushing them to a 3-1 mark in the three-way group. North is 2-2, and Devils Lake is 1-3.
Valley City would need to defeat Shanley in the season finale to ensure a tie. Fargo North has winnable games in front of them.
The Hi-Liner boys avenged a one-point loss at Horace for their first league win of the year, 70-56 at the Hi-Liner Activities Center.
It’s a double header with Shanley in Fargo Tuesday night to wrap up the season.
