Photo via Marty Walters: Jamestown boys senior wrestlers before taking off for state

FARGO, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown’s High School wrestling teams competed on day one of the individual championships on Thursday at the FargoDome. Senior Jackson Walters went 3-0 at 182 pounds to punch his ticket to the title match Friday afternoon.

The Blue Jays had four wrestlers reach the semifinals at 152, 170, and 182 for the boys and 170 for the girls. Aden Braun (152), Colton Mewes (170), and Hannah Sjostrom (170) all fell in their respective semifinal matchups ups. All three seniors went 2-1 and will place in at least the top 6 in the individual championships.

Jamestown started the day with 12 individuals out of 19 moving out of the opening round and into the quarterfinals. Mackenzie Stoddart, Gabby Romans, Sjostrom, Grace Bercier, and Aleeona Meza all won in the opening round for the girls. Jack Schauer, Lucas Schlepuetz, Braun, Adyn Eckert, Mewes, Walters, and Ethan Gall picked up wins for the boys.

The individual championship continues Friday at the FargoDome. Championship matches begin at 3:00 PM.
