VALLEY CITY, ND (NewsDakota.com) Friday was a busy night for Hi-Liner athletics, with gymnastics and both basketball teams in action.
The Hi-Liner gymnastics team finished third of four teams at the Throwback Meet in Jamestown Friday. Valley City’s 124.95 edged Fargo’s 124, with Dickinson and Jamestown finishing first and second.
Karina Olson led the Hi-Liners, finishing sixth all-around. She again won the floor exercise, with a 9.625.
The Hi-Liner girls basketball team achieved beyond domination with an 82-18 win over Fargo South. Valley City led 50-1 at halftime. The win pulled the Hi-Liners to within one in the win column of seventh place in the EDC, keeping them alive for a home play-in game.
Valley City dropped a 77-62 win to Fargo South in boys play. The Hi-Liners cut a one-time 19-point lead to seven late. Zach Sykora led the Hi-Liners with 18 points, Calahan Burchill added 14, and Aiden Jacobson knocked in 11.
Both Hi-Liner teams host Grand Forks Red River Tuesday night.
