VALLEY CITY, ND (NewsDakota.com) Both Viking basketball teams are looking to take steps toward a home game in the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) tournament at home this weekend.
The Vikings host Bellevue University Friday night, followed by Dakota State Saturday. The opponents mean different things for each team, but both teams needs wins to stay in the top half of the league.
In women’s play, the Vikings hold a two-game lead for the fourth-place spot over Dickinson State. Bellevue is two games ahead of the Vikings, in third place, and Dakota State is in outright control of the league after their win over Mayville State last Saturday.
Viking men’s hopes for a home game can go in a number of different directions. Valley City State is tied for fourth with Dickinson State, and they hold the current tiebreaker with the Bluehawks. Bellevue is a game ahead of the Vikings in third, and Dakota State is in sixth place in the league, but they hold a win over Valley City State in Madison, SD this year.
Game time is 5:30 PM for women’s play Friday, and 3:00 PM Saturday, with the men to follow both days. Games will be broadcast on KOVC AM 1490/FM 96.3.
