SIOUX CITY, IA. (NewsDakota.com) – The #9 University of Jamestown men’s basketball team had its 10-game winning streak snapped on Friday night in a 75-48 loss at #25 Morningside.

UJ jumped out to a 7-0 advantage and it felt like things were rolling for the Jimmies. After the 7-0 start, Morningside went on a 27-0 run and took control. Jamestown didn’t make a field goal over a 10-minute stretch of game time. The Jimmies did chip away at the lead, cutting the deficit to 36-24 going into the half.

Jamestown brought it to ten to begin the second half, but the Mustangs imposed their will over the next eight minutes of game time and dominated the rest of the second half en route to a huge conference win for Morningside.

Reid Gastner led UJ with a double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Mason Walters ended the game with 10 points and eight rebounds. Jamestown shot 30% from the floor and 18% from beyond the arc in the loss.

The 48 points for the Jimmies in the lowest points scored in a loss since they scored 45 against South Dakota Mines in February 2013.

The Jimmies still remain in first place in the GPAC, falling to 22-4 overall and 14-4 in the conference standings. Jamestown has a chance to clinch at least a share of the regular season crown Saturday afternoon against Briar Cliff at 3:45 PM.
