VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Sheyenne Valley Special Education Unit (SVSEU) Board is pleased to announce Ms. Andrea Johnson as the next Director of Special Education for the unit.
Ms. Johnson has worked in Lisbon, ND, as a special education teacher for the past 16 years and the past 3 years as a part-time special education teacher/part-time special education coordinator. She has experience with supervision of teachers and paraprofessionals as well as experience serving all disability category areas in grades K-12. Ms. Johnson is an alumna of Valley City State University and the University of North Dakota. She is currently pursuing her doctorate in Educational Leadership through UND. Ms. Johnson lives outside of Enderlin, ND, with her husband and two children. Her contract officially begins July 1, 2023.
Sheyenne Valley Special Education Unit services approximately 256 students with special education needs (ages 3-21) in five area school districts: Barnes County North, Hope-Page, Maple River, Oakes, and Valley City.
Andrea Johnson will replace Tracey Zaun as director for Sheyenne Valley Special Education Unit. Ms. Zaun has worked in the field of special education for the past 22 years, the past 8 years as Director of Special Education for SVSEU. Ms. Zaun will assume the role of Executive Director of the Open Door Center on July 1, 2023.
