JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – For the first time since 2003, a Blue Jay basketball game was played at Jamestown Civic Center as the Blue Jay boys hosted Bismarck Legacy on Thursday night.

The Sabres shook off a slow start and pulled out a 69-59 victory.

The Jays came out on fire and jumped out to a 12-2 lead. Legacy battled back to take the lead by half 39-32. Jamestown fell behind by 15 in the second half but rallied back to within two but the Sabers sealed the deal with some late free throws.

The Blue Jays were led by Senior Caydann Cox with 18 and Sophomore Noah Meissner with 14. Junior Ryan Larson also was in double figures with 11.

Legacy got 30 from Junior Lucas Kupfer.

Jamestown slips to 8-8 overall and 7-8 in West Region play. The Sabers improve to 12-6 overall and 11-6 in the West Region.

Next up for the Jays is a home game Friday night, February 10th versus Minot at Jerry Meyer Arena at 7:30pm.

The Blue Jay girls also lost to Legacy 73-55.
