VALLEY CITY, ND  (NewsDakota.com)  Valley City challenged the Eastern Dakota Conference’s second-place girls basketball team Tuesday night, but the second half did them in.

The Hi-Liners were within 13 at 42-29 at the break, but were outscored 51-24 in the second half, falling 93-53 to Fargo Davies.

Carly Goven and Brooke Eggrermont combined their inside presence for a nice night as a scoring combination.  Goven finished with 18 points, and seven rebounds, and Eggermont added 16 points and six rebounds.

The Hi-Liners host Fargo South Friday.  Valley City likely needs three wins in its final four games to host an EDC play-in game.  Those games are against South, Horace, Shanley and Red River.
