JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High School boys and girls basketball teams both fell to top-ranked Century in doubleheader action Tuesday night at Jerry Meyer Arena.

GIRLS BASKETBALL: #1 CENTURY 51, JAMESTOWN 49

A 16-1 run at the end of the first half of play helped the Blue Jay girls capture a 26-25 lead at the half. Katie Falk led Jamestown during the opening 18 minutes with 12 points and nearly had a double-double at the break. In the second half, Century regained the lead to ten, leading 45-35 before Ella Falk made it rain from the outside, retying the game at 45. The Patriots had enough juice late to take a two-point lead in the final seconds, and an E. Falk three-quarters court shot fell just short at the horn.

E. Falk led the Jays with 22 points and K. Falk had 12 points and a double-double. Jamestown finished 13-for-18 at the free throw line in the loss. The Jays fall to 8-7 overall, 7-7 in the WDA, and have now lost three games in a row by one possession.

BOYS BASKETBALL: #1 CENTURY 74, JAMESTOWN 59

Thomas Newman scored 20+ points for the second consecutive game but the Jays fell short of Century for the second time this year. Newman had 21 points and Ryan Larsen dropped in 12, including eight in the first half. Jamestown trailed 37-26 at the half and cut the lead to within single digits with less than six minutes to go. However, a late run from the Patriots helped Century remain unbeaten on the year.

Noah Meissner added 11 points for Jamestown as they went 7-for-9 from the free throw line as a team. The Jays fall to 8-7 overall and 7-7 in the West Region. Jamestown hosts Bismarck Legacy on Thursday night with the boys game held at the Civic Center while the girls host Legacy at Jerry Meyer Arena.
