HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Beavers wasted little time in getting on the scoreboard as Olivia Opheim picked up her sixth goal of the season at 1:53.
  • Gillian Gervin, who had four goals in yesterday’s win, doubled the lead at 7:33, then Sydney Spicer made it 3-0 at 17:14.
  • Both teams went 0-for-4 on the power play in the opening period, including a brief 5-on-3 advantage for the Jimmies after Jordan Kulbida was called for holding at 9:25.
  • After coincidental roughing penalties on MSU’s Anna German and UJ’s Jayden Baker plus an additional roughing penalty issued to Emma Strouse put the Beavers on the power play at 6:29 of the second, Denali Sigurdson capitalized for Minot State at 6:58 to make it 4-1.
  • Chloe Gauthier ended the shutout hopes at 9:06 of the second, with her third power play goal this season and sixth overall. Crystal Wale won a faceoff to the left of Beaver goaltender Morgan Baker, finding Gauthier, who put a one-timer over Baker’s left shoulder into the net.
  • German answered for MSU at 16:28 of the second, extending the lead to 5-1 entering the final period.
  • Kulbida became the sixth different Minot State player with a goal, notching her 15th of the year at 6:46 of the third period, coming on the power play.
