VALLEY CITY, ND  (NewsDakota.com)  A dominating performance for the Hi-Liner wrestlers got the team out of the blocks in their sprint to the finish line.

Valley City knocked off Devils Lake 66-12 in their first of six duals in six days to close the regular season.  The win moved Valley City to 4-2 in Eastern Dakota Conference (EDC) wrestling.

Tonight, Valley City faces Jamestown and Bismarck Legacy in non-conference wrestling, which will feature a handful of matches between ranked wrestlers.  Those matches will not count toward qualifying for state dual competition.  That effort continues Monday, when Valley City hosts Grand Forks Red River and West Fargo Sheyenne.  Sheyenne is unbeaten in league wrestling this season.

West Fargo and Valley City close the season Tuesday.  With West Fargo’s commanding win over Grand Forks Central last night, the Hi-Liners will likely have to run the table to qualify for state.
