VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Casey Kruger, Senior competitor on the VCHS Speech and Student Congress teams competed in Minot at the North Dakota American Legion State Oratorical Contest on January 28, 2023, with his
original speech titled “Interpreting Our Future” where he discusses the importance and history of constitutional interpretations. In order to qualify for State, Kruger had to win both the District 1 contest on December 3rd and the Eastern Division contest on January 14th. Kruger had a fantastic day at State and won the competition. This win qualifies him for the National American Legion Oratorical Contest in Indianapolis on April 21st – 23rd
The American Legion Oratorical Contest was founded in 1938 and participating students write speeches about the U.S. constitution and compete for scholarship money.
