ARGUSVILLE, N.D. (NDHP) – On Thursday, January 26th, 2023, at approximately 7:00 pm, a ND Highway Patrol (NDHP) patrol vehicle was struck northbound on I-29 MM 79, near Argusville.
Captain Bryan Niewind said the NDHP Trooper had responded to a four-vehicle crash at this location and the patrol vehicle was parked with its emergency lights flashing in lane one (passing lane) of northbound I-29, as the vehicles involved in the crash were blocking this lane. The NDHP Trooper had exited his vehicle and was checking on the occupants of the vehicles involved in the crash.
He said a 1997 Kenworth semi towing an empty 1995 Barrett cattle trailer came upon the NDHP patrol vehicle. The Kenworth struck the rear of the patrol vehicle and the Kenworth then jack knifed into the median.
The Cass County Sheriffs’ Office (CCSO) is investigating the crash involving the NDHP patrol vehicle and the Kenworth semi. No one was injured in the crash. The NDHP patrol vehicle is a 2022 Ford Explorer Northbound I-29 was closed between Argusville and Gardner for approximately 2 1⁄2 hours while the crashes were investigated.
The NDHP was assisted by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office and the Argusville and Harwood Fire Departments.
