Site plans for McElroy Park Renovations
JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – Although snow may be still on the ground, baseball season is just around the corner for Jamestown and JAYBAL.
Registration is open now and you can save 20% on registration if you sign up before February 15th. President of the JAYBAL board Matt Perkins talked about those savings. You can sign up for JAYBAL here.
Youth interested in playing baseball this summer will be separated into different groups with the older teams traveling across the state. Legion baseball is also part of this for ages 15-19.
For the kids eight and under, JAYBAL has its own league for t-ball as well as Rookie League. The Rookie League now uses a pitching machine, a change that JAYBAL implemented last year. All these teams will play locally against each other and will be represented by Jamestown businesses.
Another project that JAYBAL and the Jamestown Parks and Recreation Department have taken on is renovations to McElroy Park. Amy Walters, executive director of Jamestown Parks and Rec, helped secure a grant to start the process of revamping McElroy Park.
More funds are needed, but as of today, JAYBAL and Parks and Rec have raised more than $2 million. The first of three parts of the renovation is taking place on the south end, with a total of $3.9 million for the south end project.
Another exciting part of the project will include the naming of a field after a Jamestown baseball legend, Tom Gould.
If you have any questions, the JAYBAL board invites you to give them a call or email them jaybal.board@gmail.com. You can also donate to Parks and Recreation during Giving Hearts Day here.
