EDGLEY, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The Oakes Tornadoes boys basketball team could not get much to fall in the second half against the Edgley/Kulm/Montpellier Rebels in District 5 play. Falling by a score of 53-31.

The game started slowly for both teas with Oakes starting off shooting slightly better then EKM. They would take the lead early 9-6 after the 1st quarter being led by Xavier Vossler. They would expand the lead to 21-17 at the half after a good 2nd quarter.

However the second half started very poorly and never got better through the half. The Rebels shot an unofficial 8/10 in the 3rd quarter while the Tornadoes shot an unofficial 1/14 in the quarter with a 3 pointer from Adler Paeper and 2 freethrows from Trey Skoglund. Going into the 4th it was the Rebels up 35-26.

The fourth quarter didn’t get better for the Tornadoes as Ezekiel Barnick and Jacob Nitschke continued to tear up the Tornadoes defense allowing them to keep expanding the lead. The Tornadoes would score 2 more field goals in the half shooting a total 3/29 in the second half. They would fall by a final score of 53-31.

The Rebels were led in scoring by Barnick who went an unofficial 6/13 from the field and 4/4 from the charity stripe for 16 points and the Tornadoes were led by Skoglund and Vossler who each had 6 points a piece.

The Bank North Player of the Game was given to Trey Skoglund for defensive play.

The Tornadoes now get a week off before taking on Medina-Pingree/Buchanan Saturday, January 28th.
